April 15, 1969 Community Bldg. 8:00 pm

The regular meeting of the Sunsites Gem and Mineral Club was called to order by our Pres. Mr. Paul Duncan. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.

The Treasurers report was given by Joe Sitarz our Treasurer.

It was decided to put up 6 tables on the platform for our show which is to be held on May 11 at the Flower Show. Joe reported that he had 14 exhibits promised. Exhibits must be put in from 8 to 10 am. Show open from 12 to 5.

It was talked about having our show judged and ribbons given. Jeannine made a motion to this effect. Eileen seconded the motion and it carried. Mr. Griffin was to be contacted to see if he would judge the rock displays.

Mr. Grim gave a report on the special study group which met at Mr. & Mrs. Gene Whitney’s home.

The field trip is to be in the Dragoons. Members to meet at the Community Bldg. At 9:00. Andy volunteered to make hamburgers for all. He is to get the meat, rolls, and trimmings and the cost will be divided. Our thanks to Andy for all of this.

Anyone wishing to may bring a rock to be given to a boy that sent us a request.

A card was sent to Mr. Frank Baeskins who had an emergency eye operation. We all wished him well.

Meeting was adjourned.

Joe Sitarz gave a very fine illustrated talk on the polishing of stones. It included the different types of abrasive used also the cleaning and polishing steps. He gave each one a stone already polished. Thank you Joe from all of us. We appreciated it very much. He also had jewelry he had made up to show what can be done with the stones that are polished but not cut.
